I’ll be honest. I enjoyed and agreed with most of this article by Tim Rogers about everything thats wrong with Japan. Something I like to call “Japan Rage.” Caused by living in Japan way too long for your own good. Tim is a classic example of this, and I quote from his article:

STOP APOLOGIZING TO ME

So yesterday, at my favorite used book store: a guy held a mouthpiece and spoke over the PA, repeating the same message for the duration of my perplexed wandering: “DEAR HONORABLE CUSTOMERS: THERE IS NO EXCUSE: IT IS WITH GRAVE FEAR IN OUR HEARTS THAT WE APOLOGIZE SINCERELY FOR MOVING EVERYTHING IN THE STORE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK THE NEAREST EMPLOYEE.” It’s like, man — “really good at apologizing” is a shitty thing to write on a culture’s resume. Why not try avoiding the situations where you’d normally have to apologize?

The only thing I didn’t agree with him about is the little sticker stores put on drinks you buy. That just makes complete sense to me in every which way. I wish I could import the sticker thing back to America with me.

But besides that one point, I have to agree, and I’m kind of happy to be returning to my homeland of Wisconsin in a month. Japan is a great place to spend some time in, but it’s a very difficult place to make your life.
