Cola Shock

From the makers of Kirin beer comes Cola Shock, a ready made cola plus alcohol drink in a can. Sold a fine 7-11 stores everywhere.

No one in their right mind would ever buy this drink. I didn’t even buy this drink, I got it for free when I spent 700¥ at a 7-11 and pulled a prize out of a box.

So lets go over what makes this drink horrible bit by bit.

First off, it doesn’t taste a bit like cola at all. Not a Coke, not a Pepsi, not even an RC Cola or a Tab cola. It tastes like what you’d get if you left a can of bad cold open and out for a week. Flat and bland.

Then there is the alcohol. It says 5% alcohol, but all I could taste was 5% ‘yuck’ in a can. I don’t know what exactly they’re putting in there, but it is the cheapest, most foul tasting, revolting alcohol that I have tasted. Thats even counting college.

The worst part is that the maker Kirin actually makes good beer so I know they ‘can’ make a decent drink if they wanted to.

The only people who would drink this horrible concoction would be high school kids who are stealing it. Though why they wouldn’t just buy some cola and steal some real alcohol is beyond me.

They make a non-boozed version of the Cola too. Pretty crappy. Worse than the super cheap LAS Cola.

What’s the alcohol inside the can? There’s rum and coke, but why anyone would put the mixture in a can is beyond me!

Just stopping by. Thanks for the comment and nice pics.

Joe drinks that. LOL! According to him a real rum and coke is “marginally better” than the Cola Shock.

@ Linda – I have no idea what anyone was thinking by making this horrible horrible drink. Kirin makes decent beer so I know that they have a basic understanding of how to make alcohol. What exact type of alcohol is in this can, I have no idea.

@ Gail – I can’t believe Joe drinks that! Real rum and cokes are far better, especially if you’re making them yourself. Plus its far far cheaper to just buy a bottle of cheap Suntory rum and a big thing of coke. (Tell him to put a big lemon wedge in, and if he’s really feeling festive put a lime wedge in as well. Double the fruit power, double the fun.)
