SCUBA Pool Dive
I’ve been really excited this year thanks to several English teachers in town showing great interest in diving. Two of them recently started doing their Open Water Diving class at my local Japanese dive shop, and another is starting diving again after a long break. Its been quite fun taking them to Live Scene Diving and having some other English speakers around.

Because I’m such a nice guy, I offered to help out at a recent pool training dive. Mostly being there to explain a few things in English in greater detail then our Japanese dive instructor was able to. So on Sunday I spent most of my afternoon hanging out in a pool, taking photos of my friends as they attempted to dive for the first time. The crew consisted of myself, our dive instructor Takahashi, Huey, Michelle, Crimson, and a Japanese student name Hitomi.
The pool was… slightly cold for me as I wasn’t wearing a wet suit. It was rather fun though to watch everyone flounder around.
The interesting thing about the pool was that it didn’t have a deep end as much as it had a section in the middle that opened up and was about 6 meters deep. Quite the deep hole.
Everyone did wonderfully, and I’m very much looking forward to diving with this group again this next weekend as they complete their training doing real ocean dives.
Oh, and as always I made a short video of the event.
Fun times in pools.
